10.3.2 Creating the Grid Infrastructure Management Repository Disk Group

Create an Oracle Automatic Storage Management (Oracle ASM) disk group to host the GIMR for a cluster.

If you have not created an Oracle ASM disk group for GIMR during Oracle Grid Infrastructure installation, then follow these steps to create a new Oracle ASM disk group using Oracle ASMCA.
  1. Go to the Oracle Grid Infrastructure home bin directory, and start Oracle ASM Configuration Assistant (ASMCA).
    C:\> cd C:\app\21.0.0\grid\bin
    C:\> asmca

    ASMCA home window opens.

  2. Click Disk Groups in the left panel to open the Disk Groups tab.
  3. Click Create to create a new disk group.
The Create Disk Groups window opens.
  4. Provide configuration information for the GIMR disk group as prompted:

In the Disk Group Name field, enter a descriptive name for the GIMR disk group. For example: MGMT.

In the Redundancy section, select the level of redundancy you want to use. For example: External

In the Select Member Disks field, select eligible disks you want to add to the MGMT disk group, and click OK.

    Note:

Determine the minimum storage space that you require for the GIMR and make sure the disk group meets the minimum storage space requirements for your GIMR.
  5. When the GIMR disk group creation is complete, click Exit and click Yes to confirm closing the ASMCA application.
