Starting Up the GDS Stack

To bring a GDS environment online cleanly, start catalog, GSMs, pools, services, then applications.

Use this startup sequence to ensure dependencies are available before starting the next layer:

  1. Start the GDS catalog database and its local listener.
  2. Start the Global Service Managers (GSMs) and confirm they can connect to the catalog.
  3. Start all GDS pool databases and their local listeners.
  4. Start the global services on the pool databases.
  5. Start the application tier and clients so they connect through the global services.
