Manage Catalog Cache

Data Studio provides cache management options for mounted remote catalogs.

Caching stores catalog metadata to improve browsing and searching catalog entities without retrieving metadata from the remote catalog for every request. For large remote catalogs, caching helps reduce the time required to retrieve metadata.

From the Manage tab, you can configure cache settings, refresh or clear the cache, and view cache reports.

Configure Cache for a Remote Catalog

To configure cache settings:

  1. On the Catalogs window, click the Manage tab. It displays the mounted remote catalogs.

  2. Click the three vertical dots for a catalog and select Manage Cache from the menu.

  3. On the Manage Cache window, you can select the following cache settings:

    • Automatic: Uses the default cache management behavior for the catalog.

    • Disabled: Disables catalog caching. Metadata is retrieved directly from the remote catalog.

    • Schedule: Refreshes the cache on a schedule. You can specify the refresh interval, select all days or specific days, and set the schedule start and end dates.

  4. Click OK to save the changes.

View Cache Report

To view cache information for a remote catalog:

  1. On the Catalogs window, click the Manage tab.

  2. Click the three vertical dots for a catalog and select Cache Report from the menu.

The Cache Report displays information about the current cache for the selected catalog, including the cache status and other cache details.

Both the Manage Cache and Cache Report windows provide the following options:

  • Refresh Cache: Immediately refreshes the cached metadata for the selected catalog.

  • Clear Cache: Clears the cached metadata for the selected catalog.
