Getting Started with Oracle Blockchain Platform Enterprise Edition for Besu
The following is a basic task flow you can follow when new to Oracle Blockchain Platform Enterprise Edition for Besu.
Table 1-1 Basic Workflow
| Summary | Role | Description | Documentation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deploy Oracle Blockchain Platform Enterprise Edition | Administrator | The administrator deploys Oracle Blockchain Platform Enterprise Edition from OCI Marketplace into a supported OCI environment and completes the prerequisites, including an external MySQL or Oracle Database and one supported identity provider. | Deploy from Oracle Cloud Marketplace |
| User Management | Administrator | An administrator logs in to the Control Plane, configures the identity provider (LDAP or OIDC/IDCS), and maps users and groups to the appropriate RBAC roles. | |
| Provision a Network | Administrator | The administrator provisions a Besu instance/network, including the organization and access settings, and verifies that it is healthy and operational through the service console. | Manage the Organization and Network |
| Configure Wallets | Administrator | The administrator configures the wallets/accounts and endpoint access required by the application (RPC Proxy and UWaaS, where applicable). | Create an Organization and Wallet |
| Develop Smart Contracts | Developer | A developer uses Blockchain App Builder to create and deploy a custom smart contract or registers/reuses an existing contract via RPC Proxy. The flow must correctly resolve founder/participant organization IDs and support the no-op or governance path, as applicable. | Using the Blockchain App Builder Extension for Visual Studio Code |
| Work with Smart Contracts | User and Business User |
The user can interact with the smart contract from Postman or an existing application via the supported RPC Proxy APIs, including submitting and querying transactions and retrieving the required history. A business user completes the intended transaction end to end. |
Web3 Transactions and Besu Instance APIs |
| Administer Smart Contracts | Administrator | An administrator can monitor health, status, and logs, manage access, and recover from documented failures. |
