Validate and Operate Cubes
Validate your Essbase cube with representative business queries and calculations, and monitor the operations that keep the application working as expected.
Creating a cube successfully does not by itself confirm that the business model is correct. Before making an application broadly available, verify its dimensions, hierarchies, data, and calculations against expected business results.
- Validate the model with representative queries
Choose several known business questions that exercise different parts of the Essbase cube model. - Run and validate calculations
For Essbase applications that require explicit calculations, run the applicable calculation process and verify the results. - Review jobs and results
Essbase runs many operations as jobs, including operations such as data loads and calculations. - Troubleshoot from result to cause
When a result looks wrong, start with expected data value and work backward through the Essbase model and the operations that produced it.
