Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database is available in these licensing options:

The Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database and Oracle TimesTen Application-Tier Database Cache can be licensed using the Named User Plus or Processor metrics. See Oracle Software Licensing Basics to learn more about these two metrics. The Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Express Edition license is free.

Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Licensing and Restrictions

The Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database license allows unrestricted use of all TimesTen features and functionality.

This license does not require you to license any other Oracle product in order to use TimesTen.

Oracle TimesTen Application-Tier Database Cache Licensing and Restrictions

The Oracle TimesTen Application-Tier Database Cache license enables use of all TimesTen features and functionality.

This license is an option to the Oracle Database and requires you to have an Oracle Database Enterprise Edition license.

This license is intended for use cases that involve TimesTen caching data on an Oracle Database. The deployed TimesTen architecture must have at least one table that has a caching relationship with data in an Oracle Database.

Note:

When deploying TimesTen Scaleout, it is not necessary to license the CPUs used for the management instances or for the ZooKeeper servers.

Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Express Edition Licensing and Restrictions

The Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database Express Edition (TimesTen XE) license enables free of charge usage of TimesTen under the terms of the Oracle Free Use Terms and Conditions.

Use of TimesTen XE is subject to the following restrictions:

  • Oracle Global Customer Support does not provide support for TimesTen XE. However, community support is available through the TimesTen Community.
  • TimesTen XE is only available for the Linux x86-64 platform.
  • The maximum value permitted for PermSize is 16 GB. This applies to each TimesTen Classic database and each element in a TimesTen Scaleout database.
  • When deploying as TimesTen Scaleout, the maximum K-safety factor supported is 2.
  • When deploying as TimesTen Scaleout, the maximum number of elements supported is four. You can create a grid and database using k = 1 with four replica sets or a grid and database using k = 2 with two replica sets.
  • Using Oracle Clusterware to manage TimesTen Classic active-standby replication schemes is not supported.
  • Using Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage TimesTen XE instances or databases is not supported.
  • Mixing TimesTen and TimesTen XE within a Classic replicated configuration or within the same Scaleout grid is not supported.
