8.4.2 Obtaining Patchmgr

The required version of the patchmgr utility depends on the target Oracle Exadata System Software release.

  • Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 26.2.0, the patchmgr update utility is optimized for and paired with the update payload. Consequently, starting with this release, patchmgr is no longer provided as a separate download and you must always use the patchmgr version included with the Oracle Exadata System Software update.

  • For Oracle Exadata System Software releases between 19.3.0 and 26.1.X, separate patchmgr distributions are provided for the servers and RDMA Network Fabric switches. By default, an appropriate patchmgr distribution is included with the relevant server or switch update. However, for these releases, it is recommended to always use the latest patchmgr from My Oracle Support when updating Oracle Exadata servers or switches. See My Oracle Support document KB153930.

  • Historically, before Oracle Exadata System Software release 19.3.0, the server and RDMA Network Fabric switch updates use a single version of patchmgr bundled with the Oracle Exadata System Software release.
