8.9 Updating Oracle Java SE on Oracle Exadata

You can update Oracle Java SE (JDK) running on Oracle Exadata database servers and storage servers, subject to the general requirements and limitations for updating individual software packages on each server type. See Updating Individual Packages on Exadata Database Servers and Updating Individual Packages on Exadata Storage Servers.

To update the JDK package, you must stop the Management Server (MS), download and update the JDK RPM package, and then reconfigure and restart MS to use the new JDK package.

Note:

Following any Exadata updates (using patchmgr), check the JDK version. If the Exadata update reverted the JDK package to an older version, repeat the JDK package update.

• Stop the Management Server Process
  You must stop the Management Server (MS) before updating the JDK package.
• Download and Update the Java JDK Package
  You can update the JDK package by downloading and installing the latest version.
• Reconfigure and Restart the Management Server Process
  After you update the Java JDK package, you must reconfigure and restart the Management Server (MS).
