2.1.6 Exascale Intelligent Free Space Management

Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 25.2.0, Exascale monitors every storage pool to ensure that there is sufficient free space to restore full data redundancy in the event of a disk failure. If the available free space drops below the minimum requirement while all disks are healthy, a low-space alert is issued, warning that redundancy will be compromised if a disk fails.

Furthermore, if a disk fails while there is insufficient space to restore redundancy, the rebuild operation triggered by the disk failure is automatically paused. This pause allows administrators to add storage space or delete unnecessary files. Then, when the storage pool contains the necessary free space, Exascale automatically resumes the rebuild to restore full data redundancy.
