3.2.2 Provision a Vault
An Exascale vault is a logical file container. You can provision a vault with specific storage resources.
Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 26.1.0, you can create multiple storage pools for each media type within a single Exascale cluster. Previously, only one storage pool was permitted for each media type in an Exascale cluster.
Consequently, there are two approaches for provisioning a vault with specific storage resources:
-
Starting with Oracle Exadata System Software release 26.1.0, you can provision a vault with a specific set of storage resources from each storage pool.
-
If your Exascale cluster is configured with Oracle Exadata System Software before release 26.1.0, you can specify one set of resource provisioning attributes, covering all media types, that is linked directly to the vault.
This approach remains in later Oracle Exadata System Software releases for backward compatibility. You can transition to using multiple storage pools for each media type by deleting the original resource provisioning definitions linked directly to the vault, and then creating new definitions that provision a specific set of storage resources from each storage pool associated with the vault.
Choose the approach that suits your system configuration:
