7 Expanding a Recovery Appliance Rack with Additional Storage Servers
The Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance racks have a flexible configuration that allows a minimum of three storage servers, and can be extended based on version.
- RA26-Z: In a normal redundancy configuration, a base rack provides 164 TB of usable capacity and can be expanded by adding RA26-Z storage servers, each providing 56 TB of usable capacity, up to a maximum of 17 storage servers. A full rack configuration provides 943 TB of usable capacity. Up to 14 fully configured RA26-Z racks can be connected together into a single appliance, providing 13.2 PB of usable capacity. In a high redundancy configuration, each storage server provides approximately 36 TB of usable capacity, with a full rack providing approximately 605 TB of usable capacity.
- RA26: In a normal redundancy configuration, a base rack (3 storage servers) provides 332 TB of usable capacity and can be expanded by adding RA26 storage servers, each providing 112 TB of usable capacity, up to a maximum of 17 storage servers. A full rack configuration provides 1.9 Petabytes (PB) of usable capacity. Up to 14 fully configured RA26 racks can be connected together into a single appliance, providing 26.6 PB of usable capacity. In a high redundancy configuration, each storage server provides approximately 72 TB of usable capacity, with a full rack providing approximately 1.2 PB of usable capacity.
- RA23: a total of 17 storage servers. Usable capacity normal redundancy, 92 TB per storage server, or minimum (3 storage servers) 274 TB and full rack total 1,564 TB. The usable capacity under high redundancy is 60 TB per storage server.
- RA21: a total of 18 storage servers. Usable capacity normal redundancy 70 TB per storage server, or minimum (3 storage servers) 207 TB and full rack total 1,260 TB. The usable capacity under high redundancy is 44 TB per storage server.
- X8M, and X8 through X5: a total of 18 storage servers.
All Recovery Appliance racks have two compute servers, regardless of the number of storage servers.
Note:
Older storage servers cannot be removed and replaced with newer storage servers while keeping existing Recovery Appliance backups online. If such an exchange is done, a re-image of the Recovery Appliance is required.
