Adding Cluster Targets Using the Guided Discovery Process
Prerequisite
For Clusterware 26ai, to use REST-based methods, ensure that the Cross Cluster Domain Protocol (CDP) daemon is enabled and running. Run the following command in the root folder to set the password for the events user, which is used to monitor Clusterware events through the Clusterware REST API.
./srvctl modify cdp -passfile_events <location of password file>The existing configuration, which does not require this command, remains supported but will be deprecated in a future release.
To add cluster targets using the guided process, follow these steps:
-
From the Setup menu, select Add Target, then select Add Targets Manually.
-
On the Add Targets Manually page, select Add Using Guided Process.
-
In the Add Using Guided Process dialog box, select Oracle Cluster and High Availability Service, and click Add....
-
On the Add Target: Cluster and Oracle High Availability Service page, specify the cluster host, or click the Specify Host or Cluster search icon to select the cluster.
If the host you select is a member of a cluster, then use this page to also indicate whether the clusters should be searched only on the selected host or on all hosts within the cluster.
After you click the search icon, a Select Targets dialog box appears. Specify the target name or select a target from the target table. You can filter the search to search for all down targets or up targets, by clicking the filter arrows in the Status column.
You can also configure your search by clicking the Configuration Search icon. After you select the host, click Select.
Click Discover Target.
The Add Target: Cluster and Oracle High Availability Service page is displayed.
- On the Add Target: Cluster and Oracle High Availability Service page:
- In the Cluster Target Properties section, verify the properties of the cluster and make changes if required.
- In the Clusterware REST API Properties section, specify or verify the following. Using the Clusterware REST API for event collection is recommended. If REST API event collection is not configured, Enterprise Manager collects events using standard metrics that invoke Clusterware command-line utilities.
- Port: The port used by Clusterware for subscription requests. The field is prepopulated with the port specified in the Clusterware configuration.
- Username: The username used for the Clusterware event subscription. The field is prepopulated with the recommended username.
- Password: The password for the Clusterware event-subscription user.
- Clusterware Trusted CA Certificate: The trusted certificate obtained from the Clusterware server. Click Choose File to select the certificate.
Note:
For a new Cluster target configured to use the Clusterware REST API, provide either a single root certificate authority (CA) certificate or the exact self-signed certificate used by the Clusterware endpoint. Do not provide a certificate-chain bundle. Select a certificate file with a.cer,.crt, or.pemextension. The endpoint’s leaf certificate must contain the configured host name in its Subject Alternative Name (SAN) or Common Name (CN). The certificate’s Base64-encoded Distinguished Encoding Rules (DER) value must not exceed 4,000 characters. - In the Cluster Host and High Availability Services Targets section, review the host target names and their corresponding Oracle High Availability Service target names. These targets will be added as members of the cluster.
To add a host target and its corresponding Oracle High Availability Service targets, click Add. To remove a target, select its row, click the additional-actions control, and then click Remove.
-
Optionally, specify global target properties for all the targets you have selected. Click Set Global Target Properties, specify the required properties, and click OK.
- Click Discover Target.
A confirmation dialog box displays details about the host and Oracle High Availability Service targets added as members of the cluster target.
