Discovering Cluster Targets Using Autodiscovery

Prerequisites

Autodiscovery is enabled by default for cluster targets. If autodiscovery is disabled, enable it before promoting cluster targets.

For Clusterware 26ai, to use REST-based methods, ensure that the Cross Cluster Domain Protocol (CDP) daemon is enabled and running. Run the following command in the root folder to set the password for the events user, which is used to monitor Clusterware events through the Clusterware REST API.

./srvctl modify cdp -passfile_events <location of password file>

The existing configuration, which does not require this command, remains supported but will be deprecated in a future release.

To promote cluster targets, follow these steps:

  1. From the Setup menu, select Add Target and then select Auto Discovery Results.

From the results table, on the Targets on host tab, select the discovered cluster target that you want to add for monitoring, and click Promote. The Promote Target: Cluster page is displayed.

  2. On the Promote Target: Cluster page:

    1. In the Cluster Target Properties section, verify the target name, Oracle Home, Single Client Access Name (SCAN) name, SCAN port, and ONS port for the cluster target, and make changes if required.

      Note:

The SCAN name, SCAN port, and ONS port properties are applicable only for Clusterware versions 11.2 and higher.

    2. In the Clusterware REST API Properties section, specify or verify the following. Using the Clusterware REST API for event collection is recommended. If REST API event collection is not configured, Enterprise Manager collects events using standard metrics that invoke Clusterware command-line utilities.
      • Port: The port used by Clusterware for subscription requests. The field is prepopulated with the port specified in the Clusterware configuration.
      • Username: The username used for the Clusterware event subscription. The field is prepopulated with the recommended username.
      • Password: The password for the Clusterware event-subscription user.
      • Clusterware Trusted CA Certificate: The trusted certificate obtained from the Clusterware server. Click Choose File to select the certificate.

      Note:

For a new Cluster target configured to use the Clusterware REST API, provide either a single root certificate authority (CA) certificate or the exact self-signed certificate used by the Clusterware endpoint. Do not provide a certificate-chain bundle. Select a certificate file with a .cer, .crt, or .pem extension. The endpoint’s leaf certificate must contain the configured host name in its Subject Alternative Name (SAN) or Common Name (CN). The certificate’s Base64-encoded Distinguished Encoding Rules (DER) value must not exceed 4,000 characters.
    3. In the Cluster Host and High Availability Services Targets section, review the host target names and their corresponding Oracle High Availability Service target names. These targets will be added as members of the cluster.

To add a host target and its corresponding Oracle High Availability Service targets, click Add. To remove a target, select its row, click the additional-actions control, and then click Remove.

    4. Optionally, specify global target properties for all the targets you have selected. Click Set Global Target Properties, specify the required properties, and click OK.
    5. Click Promote.
