Add the connection information that ECP Data Bridge uses to access an FTP or SFTP source.

You can add a source even when the source server is unavailable. After saving the source, test the connection and verify that the configured source folder exists.

Obtain the following information:

  • A unique name for the source.

  • The source protocol.

  • The IP address and port of the source server.

  • The username and password used to access the source.

  • The path of the folder that contains the files to be transferred.

  • For an SFTP source, the server fingerprint.

Ensure that the Cloud Connector can communicate with the source server over the local network.
  1. Sign in to the ECP Data Bridge local UI.
  2. Open the Sources page.
  3. Select Add Source.
    The Add Source drawer opens.
  4. In Source Name, enter a unique name for the source.
The source name identifies the connection on the Sources page. ECP Data Bridge does not allow two source connections to use the same name.
  5. In Protocol, select one of the following values:
    • FTP
    • SFTP
  6. In IP Address, enter the static IP address of the source server.
ECP Data Bridge connects to the source by using its configured IP address. A hostname cannot be used in place of the source IP address.
  7. In Port, enter the port on which the source server accepts connections.
For an FTP source, the default port is 21. Change the value when the FTP server uses a different port.
  8. In Username, enter the username used to access the source server.
  9. In Password, enter the password for the source account.
  10. In Source Folder, enter the path from which ECP Data Bridge can browse and download files.
The path can identify the root folder or another folder available to the configured source account.
  11. For an SFTP source, enter the server fingerprint.
The fingerprint field is not required for an FTP source.
  12. Select Save.

ECP Data Bridge adds the source to the Sources page. Until the source connection is tested, its status indicates that it has not been tested.

You can save the source when the server is not currently reachable. Test the connection when the source server becomes available.

Test whether ECP Data Bridge can connect to the source.

After the connection test succeeds, verify that the configured source folder exists.
