Replace a Cloud Connector

When deployed edge node hardware must be replaced, use the replacement process to swap the existing hardware with new hardware while preserving the same edge node identity in Oracle ECP. During replacement, Oracle ECP updates the existing edge node record with identifying values from the new hardware, including the hardware serial number and the ICCID for the SIM card installed in the new hardware.

Context: Replacing a Cloud Connector is useful when existing hardware in the field is damaged, decommissioned, or otherwise needs to be changed. The replacement process lets the new hardware take over the existing edge node identity in Oracle ECP, so that the edge node can continue to be managed as the same logical device after the hardware swap.
Prerequisites:
  • The edge node to be replaced has a lifecycle state of Active and a connectivity state of Disconnected (See the Edge Node Inventory page).
  • The replacement Cloud Connector is ready to be installed.
  • The following information shipped with the replacement device is accessible:
    • New edge serial number
    • ICCID(s) for the SIM card(s)

    Note:

This information is found on a sticker on the bottom side of the Cloud Connector chassis.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Inventory page, select the Edge Nodes context, and select the specific Edge Node's name that you want to replace with a single click.
The Edge Node Item Overview will open.
  2. Select Replace from the three-dot Actions menu in the screen's left panel.
A Replace Edge Node panel opens.
  3. In the replacement panel, enter the Serial Number of the new edge hardware (required).
  4. Enter the new values for ICCID SIM1 (required) and ICCID SIM2 (only required if previously installed).
    • Use the values provided on the Cloud Connector shipping packaging.
    • Enter each ICCID in the corresponding field shown in the UI.

      Note:

Be sure to enter this ICCID value accurately.
  5. Select Replace to start the replacement process.
The system begins processing the edge hardware replacement request.
