Classic Shell Dashboards (Deprecated)
Note:
Shell Dashboards are deprecated beginning with Unifier 26.10. Oracle is replacing this capability with Data Visualizations, which provides the recommended experience for creating and viewing shell-level dashboard content. Shell Dashboards remain available and supported until their removal in a future release. The removal release has not yet been determined. Customers should plan to transition applicable dashboard content to Data Visualizations.
In User mode, standard dashboards replace classic shell dashboards. For more information, see Standard Shell Dashboard.
The Classic Dashboard provide an at-a-glance view of project or shell information. You can customize the dashboard to display information that is relevant to the current shell.
From any classic shell dashboard, you can:
- Use drill-down blocks to access detailed data.
- Apply filters to display the same filtered data across all blocks on the dashboard.
- Print the entire dashboard or individual dashboard blocks.
- Minimize or maximize the entire dashboard or individual blocks.
- Rearrange dashboard blocks using a free-form layout instead of a predefined layout.
Shell dashboards display data only within the current shell hierarchy. For example, a dashboard for the Capital Projects hierarchy can display data from all levels within that hierarchy, but it cannot display data from the Facilities hierarchy because it is a separate hierarchy.
Dashboard Types
Project shells support the following dashboard types:
| Dashboard Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Administrative Dashboard |
Administrative Dashboards are created by the shell administrator and distributed through templates. Administrators with Dashboard Setup permission can create multiple dashboards for a shell. Users can select an administrative dashboard from the View Dashboard list. Users can view these dashboards if they have the required permissions, but they cannot modify them. |
| My Dashboard | My Dashboard is a personal dashboard that an individual user creates and customizes to display the information that they want to see. |
Note:
In most cases, shell dashboards are configured by your administrator.Default Dashboard Layout
Each shell dashboard contains at least one tab and can contain up to five tabs. The default tab name is Summary, although you can rename it.
By default, a shell dashboard contains the following blocks:
| Block | Description |
|---|---|
| Image | Displays the image that the company administrator uploaded for the shell. |
| Items Requiring Your Attention | Displays items such as tasks and messages that typically appear on the Home tab. |
| Links | Displays links that the company administrator configured for the shell. |
Dashboard Block Types
Each dashboard tab can use a different layout and can contain the following block types:
| Block Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Standard | Displays shell information such as business processes, managers, users, and active tasks. |
| Portlet | Displays content from an external Uniform Resource Locator (URL), such as a webcam, website, or other web application. |
| Drill Down | Displays hierarchical shell data that you can explore by drilling into additional levels of detail. For more information, see Add a Drill Down Block to My Dashboard. |
| Custom | Displays data from the current shell, subordinate shells, or both. Custom blocks cannot display data across separate shell hierarchies. |
Note:
When you configure a portlet, the targeted website must support the use of an inline frame (iFrames). If the website does not support iFrames for security reasons, Unifier cannot display the content in the portlet block and instead displays a blank page. To view the content, open the URL in a web browser.
