Configuring Dynamic Data Sets
This flexible uDesigner option can be used on business processes (BPs) and attributes forms. It allows one data element (DE) on the form to the control both values and behavior of other DEs on the same form.
Dynamic data sets (DDSs) use pull-down lists and radio buttons for the master element and for data elements (DEs) in a value set. In addition, a behavior set can include the SOV Line Picker (uuu_sovlinum) on Change Commit detail forms for classic Payment Application and General Spends BPs. The values that are available to users at runtime for the dependent fields are dependent on the selection the user makes for the master DE field.
Behavior sets can also control the SOV Line Picker (uuu_sovlinum) on eligible Change Commit detail forms, including Required, Disabled, and Disabled and Clear states.
For example, you can define a dynamic data set that includes a Country, State, City, Postal Code and Zip Code data elements that function as drop-down (pull-down) menus on a form. The Country field is a master DE. The set can be configured so that, at runtime, the user must select a value for Country, which dynamically controls the values that are available to be chosen for State. The user then selects a State, which drives the choices available for City.
Field behavior (such as required, or read-only) can also be controlled by the DDS. For example, a set might include DEs for Country, Zip Code and Postal Code. At runtime, depending on the selected value for the Country, the Zip code field may get become enabled and a required field, while the Postal Code field becomes disabled.
