How to Set Up a Dynamic Data Set
Dynamic data sets (DDSs) are imported automatically when you import a business process (BP) or attribute form that has the DDS on it.
Setting up a DDS consists of the following:
- Prepare elements and data set values. View DDS properties to identify elements of the set:
- Master Data Element, which drives the behavior of the set.
- Value Set, which lists the data elements whose values will be controlled by the master element (for example, if the master element is Country, the value set might include a drop-down [pull-down] data element State, the values of which will change depending on the country chosen).
- Behavior Set, listing elements whose behavior is controlled by the master element (for example, a field that becomes Required, Disabled, or Disabled and Clear depending on the value chosen for the master element (for example, the Country chosen might dictate whether the Postal Code or Zip Code field is enabled for the user).
Verify that sets are populated. The Master Data Element and the data elements in a Value Set must be drop-down (pull-down) menus or radio buttons.
For a Behavior Set, you can also select the SOV Line Picker (
uuu_sovlinum). The SOV Line Picker can be used only on Change Commit detail forms for classic Payment Application and General Spends BPs. It cannot be used as a Master Data Element or Value Set element, and it is not supported for Summary Payment Application (SPA) Change Commit BPs. - Define the Value Set and Behavior Set. The value set consists of the fields whose values will be controlled by the master data element selection at runtime. The Master data element is the first element on the list. You will define the values that display at runtime.
The behavior set contains the fields whose behavior (Required, Disabled, Disabled and Clear) will be controlled by the master data element selection at runtime. While Required contains a required text field and Disabled changes the field to read-only, Disabled and Clear clears any previous values in the field and then disables the field, making it read-only. With selecting Disabled and Clear, you avoid entering invalid data and therefore improve data entry.
