Configuration and Data Availability
Configuration that Shapes Visual Explorer
Visual Explorer presents the agricultural data that is configured and available for a country. Administrators and data stewards should keep the following information current:
- the administrative region hierarchy and associated geometry;
- the list of active, available crops and their display order;
- crop-specific yield-category definitions; and
- the layers and datasets that are active for user access.
Assign an accountable owner for each area of configuration. Changes should be validated in the intended region context before broad user communication. For governance practices and change coordination, see Data Governance and Change Management.
Operational Data Availability
A crop can be active in a country configuration while data is still becoming available. Make crops and layers available to users only when the supporting customer-visible data is ready for use. If content is missing, verify the selected crop, region, layer, and detection date before treating it as an access issue.
Routine Checks
Perform routine checks after new datasets become available:
- Confirm the expected layer and detection date appear in Visual Explorer.
- Confirm that a representative region and crop load on the map.
- Review a tooltip at an appropriate zoom level.
- For Crop Production, verify that the data panel presents regional values and sub-region results where applicable.
- Record and investigate any unexpected gaps in region, crop, or dataset availability.
