Search for a Storm Model or Event

From the Storm ERT dashboard, you can use the search bar and filters to search for a storm model or event, or to narrow the list of storms so you can view storms that have common attributes. This is an especially powerful tool as your list of storms grows over time.

By default, the State filter is added to the search bar so that the dashboard displays all storms except those in the Cancelled state. You can clear this filter (or click it and select all states) if you would like to see all available storms regardless of the state.

Search by Keyword

  • You can enter almost any key word in the search bar and filter the storm list by that keyword. For example, you can enter a key word for a season (such as "winter" or "summer"), a level (such as "severe"), a state (such as "draft"), or even a number (such as "100"). The list will be filtered to display any storms containing matching words.

  • The key words you use must match information in the displayed list of storms for you to see results. For example, you won't see any results for the key word "cancelled" if storms in the Cancelled state are hidden from the dashboard. As another example, if you have selected the Season filter and have chosen to only display storms for the fall and spring seasons, then a keyword search for "winter" will not return any results.

  • You cannot use the search bar to search for dates or times. The best way to search for storms falling within certain dates or times is to use the Date Range filter.

Narrow the Results with Filters

  • At any point in your search, you can select one of the filters below the search bar to narrow your list of results. Some of the filters have default values that you can easily change. For example, the Customers and Outages filters have default ranges which you can change once you select them.

  • Some storms contain blank spaces since there is no information for that column. For example, sometimes the Season, Type, and Level columns are blank. These storms will not appear in search results if they have no information to match the key word. They will also be excluded from filtered searches unless you select a filter and clear all of that filter's options. For example, if you select the Type filter and clear all of its options, you will see a list of storms that have no information in the Type column.
