Approve a Storm Model

You can approve a storm model after the storm cut-off date has passed. By this point in time, the storm model chart will contain initial outage and restoration data. When a storm model is approved, its information (such as estimated outages and major milestones) can be shared with your organization and the public so they can prepare for the storm.

Note: Only administrators can approve storm models. See Storm ERT Roles and Permissions.

  1. Sign in to Storm ERT.
  2. From the Storm ERT dashboard, search for and click the name of the storm model you want to approve.
  3. In the storm view that opens, click Actions and then Approve.
  4. Select the ERT you want to approve with the storm model. (You can only approve one ERT.)
  5. Click Approve.

The storm model state changes to Approved. Additionally, a new Workplan tab displays, along with a Workplan Projection Timeline curve in the Timelines section.

At first, the approved ERT and the Workplan Projection Timeline curves overlap, appearing as a single curve. This is because the approved ERT is the basis for the Workplan Projection Timeline. However, as more outage restoration data comes in, the curves will begin to diverge. Additionally, you can update the workplan and adjust crew numbers and crew efficiencies, which will result in more changes to the Workplan Projection Timeline.

If you need to edit the ERT or storm model again, you can revert the storm model to a draft.
