The Letter Extract Processes

Customer contacts that trigger letters reference a customer contact type that, in turn, references a letter template. Two background processes are provided with system that control the information extracted into a file.

C1-LTPEX – Letter Extract

This process produces a letter extract file based on letter extract records that are configured with each letter template. Each letter template can be configured with a different set of record type. Some record types have configuration options such as which characteristic types to extract or how to identify the object to extract. This is a highly configurable extract that should reduce the need for a custom solution.

The record layouts can be viewed in the application on the Letter Template Extract Record List zone on the letter template portal.

LTRPRT – Letter Extract

This process uses the extract algorithm on the letter template and is responsible for extracting the information merged onto your letters. These algorithms create the "flat file records" that are passed to your letter print software.

Additionally, the extract algorithm can be called if your letter print software has the ability to construct a real-time image of a letter (in a PDF). You can plug-in an Online Letter Image algorithm on the Installation Record. This type of algorithm calls the letter template's extract algorithm to extract the information that is merged onto the letter.
