About Event Participation
Event participation records capture the participation of a controllable device in a program event. When a program event is to occur, the ADMS or SCADA system sends a list of devices and date/time information to "reserve" the device for the event, and event participation records are created. Once the event is complete, the external system sends a list of impacted devices and the status of each. These details are captured in event participation records.
Event participations are defined by the following:
-
Status: The current status of the event participation record.
-
Participation Start and End Date/Time: The start and end date and time of the event.
-
Reservation Start and End Date/Time: The start and end date and time of the device's participation in the event, Some devices may participate in only a portion of an event. If not applicable, this field is blank.
-
Device ID: The information string for the controllable device which participated in the event.
-
Program Subscription: The program subscription associated with the device and program associated with the event.
-
Program: The program for which the event took place.
-
Program Event: The event associated with the event participation record.
-
Reservation: A flag that indicates if the event participation record represents a device reservation. This flag is typically set to "Yes" when the system receives a list of devices for a planned event.
-
Outcome: The outcome of the device's participation in the event. Possibly outcomes include "Successful participation", "Non-responsive device", "In-flight override", "Error", and "Canceled".
-
Preemptive Opt-Out: A flag which indicates if the device preemptively opted out of the event. This flag to most often set to "Yes" when a device is removed from an event after an event participation record has been created.
-
External ID: An ID used to identify the event participation record in external systems.
System Data
Event participation records are based on the following system data:
Data Type |
Description |
---|---|
Maintenance Object |
Event Participation (D1-EVENTPART) |
Business Object(s) |
Event Participation ( X1-EventParticipation) |
Successful Event Participations
The number of successful event participations for a device is used when calculating control scores for the device (via Program Transactions). A device's event participation is considered successful in the following circumstances:
-
The Event Participation has an Outcome of "Successful Participation".
-
The Event Participation has an Outcome of "Canceled". This happens when a device has been reserved but the event stopped halfway through due to reasons such as, target load control reached. It is considered as a success in customer perspective, since it is the utility that stopped the event which resulted to a cancelled outcome.
-
The Event Participation has a blank Outcome and the device was not preemptively opted out of the event (Preemptive Opt-Out is "No" or blank). Posting of an event's outcome may be delayed, and until then the event participation of a reserved device is considered as a success as long as the customer did not opt out before the event transpires.
