Getting Started with Flex Operations
The Flex Operations client is a browser‑based application that allows you to support control room staff by quickly logging on and helping to manage outages, crews, and other storm processes. The Flex Operations clients run on desktops and laptops (tablets and smartphones are not supported); see the Oracle Utilities Network Management System Quick Install Guide for supported platforms.
Logging In
1. Launch the web link provided by your System Administrator.
2. Enter your User ID and Password, then click Validate.
3. Select your User Type, then click Login.
Note: For information on User Type options, see “Understanding User Types”.
Logging Out
On the Workspace Banner, click your User ID and then select Logout.
Note: Closing the browser is the same as logging yourself out.
Using the Authority Dialog Box
When you are using the Flex Operations client, you only see events and crews for the areas (or zones) of authority that you are subscribed to. When you log in, you are prompted to subscribe to authority areas, but you can also change your areas of authority at any time (see “Adding and Removing Areas of Authority” for more information).
Subscribing to Areas of Authority after Logging In
When you log in, the Authority dialog box, which lists all Authority Zones, is displayed. To subscribe, do the following:
1. Expand the zones as needed and select the ones that you wish to subscribe to
2. Click Subscribe and Close.
The Events and Crews tool updates to show outages and crews for the areas you subscribed to.
Adding and Removing Areas of Authority
You can change your areas of authority at any time. Select Authority from the Workspace Banner Tool Selector () drop‑down list (see “Understanding the Tool Selector” for more information on the Tool Selector selection options).
When the Authority dialog box opens, you can add subscription areas or unsubscribe.
To add one or more areas, select the areas using the check boxes, or select the parent to select it and all child zones, then click Subscribe and Close.
To unsubscribe from areas you own, select the area(s), then click Unsubscribe, then close the tool.
