4 Content Configuration
Content is the visible content that appears in the communication. Content Configuration can be any of the following:
- String of text and numbers
- Graphics
- Variable data
- Digital Asset
- Chart
Every Content configuration comprises of a base content and its version. You can create new versions of a Content from existing Content versions. Each Content version must have a unique name for identification which is used for packaging the communication output. You can also control when a content version will be used in a Package Assembly by setting the Active and Inactive dates.
- PNG images are pixel based whereas, SVG images are vector images.
- You can use PNG images if image has lot of colors.
- SVG images are made up of lines and shapes that can be scaled to any size without losing quality. These images have high quality and this file format is useful when you want to re-size images such as logos and icons.
You can add additional details by adding the identifiers (Fields) in the User Defined Data Structure and map them to the client’s JSON data file to make the details available in the final communication output. See Creating a Structure for more details . The Content author does not need to be familiar with the data structure or the data mapping in order to use the Fields. The author will need to know the Field’s purpose.
- You can refer and attach stored PDF files directly or through metadata, and decide whether or not to embed them in your final document.
- You can attach multiple PDFs into different parts of your communication, and you can reuse the same PDF asset multiple times, wherever needed.
- Each embedded PDF will always begin on a new page in your generated output, and any following content will also start on a new page to keep everything organized.
- The service automatically includes the pages from every attached PDF when figuring out page numbers in the final document.
- Your final PDF can seamlessly combine pages of different sizes, mixing retrieved Digital Asset (PDFs) with the actual communication.
- For security, you can generate a password-protected final PDF which can include both the retrieved Digital Asset and the actual communication.
For Chart type Content, Communication Cloud Service provides you the ability to refer Chart configuration that helps to generate and include Chart graphic (SVG type) into a Communication in PDF or HTML formats. See Creating a Chart Configuration, for more details. You can achieve this by selecting Chart as the Content Type and associating a Chart.
For each type of content information, you can apply styling by associating the relevant Style configuration. Additionally, you can incorporate business logic by mapping applicable Rule configuration to it.
Predefined Fields
The Service provides a collection of predefined fields that provide access to data provided by the Service in addition to any field definitions defined in the User Defined Data Structure. These fields are used in the same manner as user defined fields.
