Creating a Communication Address Configuration
Introduction
Communication Address in Communication Cloud Services helps in defining and assembling email addresses (From, To, CC, BCC, Reply To) and Telephone Number for SMS, to send the Communication Email and Communication Message. In Communication Address you can configure Address Component types (such as Email and SMS), Data Source (such as User Defined Data Field or Static) and then specify the value. Once the Communication Address is configured, you need to associate this Communication Address configuration to a Communication Email or Communication Message configuration to ensure that the email or the SMS is delivered to the correct recipients.
Prerequisites
Following are the prerequisites to consider before creating a Communication Address configuration in Communication Cloud Service:

Steps involved in creating a Communication Address Configuration

Creating a Communication Address
- Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
- From Menu, select Communication.
- Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Address. This redirects you to the Communication Address landing page.
- On the Communication Address landing page, select Create.
- In Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Address.
- In Type section select the Communication Address type to specify the distributions supported by Communication Address.
- In Status section, Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Address is created. You can change it to a future date if required, but you cannot leave it blank.
- Select Continue to create Communication Address Version.
Creating a Communication Address Version
Versions allow for the creation of multiple iterations of a Communication Address. Active Date helps control when each version of the Communication Address becomes effective. While a Communication Address can have several versions, at least one version must be created for a Communication Address configuration.
- On the Create Communication Address Version page, in Basic Information section, enter the Name, Long Name and Description (optional), to identify the Communication Address Version.
- In Address Component section, select Add Address Component and perform the following:
- Select Type to identify the address component.
- Select Data Source to specify the sources of data to provide the value for address components. Based on the selected Data Source, fill in the Value.
Data Source Value User Defined Data Field Select Add User Defined Data Field and then select User Defined Data Field that you want to associate to the Communication Address configuration. Static Value Enter the static value under Value. - Select Add Row
to add the row or Delete Row
to delete the row.
Note:
You can select Add Another Address Component to add multiple address components. - In Status section the Active Date is set to the current date when the Communication Address is created. You can set it to the future date, if required.
- Select Save to save the details or select Save & Exit to save the details and return to the landing page.
Maintaining Communication Address Configuration
Introduction
You can update or delete Communication Address configuration to cater to the changing business needs.
You can add multiple versions to a Communication Address configuration. This can be done by either adding a child to the Communication Address configuration or adding siblings to the Version. Additionally, you can duplicate an existing Version to create a new one. You also have the option to delete the Communication Address configuration, if the Config ID is open.
If the initial Config ID used for creating Communication Address configuration is closed, and if you want to edit the configuration, see Editing a Configuration after Closing the Config ID.
You can update the following information:
- Editing a Communication Address Configuration: Update the basic information of the Communication Address configuration, Active Date, or Type. You can also add new Version under the same configuration if the Config ID is open.
- Editing a Communication Address Version: Update the basic information of the Version, Active Date, or Address Components. You can also add new Version or duplicate an existing Version.
- Deleting a Communication Address Version: Delete a Version that you are no longer using, if the Config ID is open.
- Deleting a Communication Address Configuration: Delete a Communication Address configuration that you are no longer using, if the Config ID is open.
Editing a Communication Address Configuration
You can edit the basic information and Active Date of a Communication Address configuration. You can also add new Version under the same Communication Address configuration.
Perform the following steps:
- Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
- From Menu, select Communication.
- Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Address. This redirects you to the Communication Address landing page.
- To edit the Communication Address configuration, follow either one of these options from the Communication Address landing page:
- From More Menu in Action column of the Communication Address configuration, select Edit.
- From Name column, select the required Communication Address configuration name to view its Summary page. Then from Summary page, select Edit.
This redirects you to the Update Communication Address page.
- On the Update Communication Address page, modify the basic information or Active Date as required.
- To update Type, select a new type from the drop down.
- Select Save to save the changes or Save & Exit to save the details and return to the landing page.
- To add new Version, select Actions from the top right corner and select Add Child. Provide the required information of the new Version.
Editing a Communication Address Version
You can modify the Version of the Communication Address configuration. You can add a new Version or duplicate the existing Version to create another one. You can also update the Address Component or add a new one.
Perform the following steps:
- From the left pane of Update Communication Address page, navigate to the Version and modify the basic information and Active Date, if required.
- To update Address Component, perform one of the following options:
- To add new row to Address Component, select Add Another Address Component under Address Component and enter the details.
- To update the existing Address Component, select More Menu under Actions column, and then select Edit.
- To delete Address Component, select More Menu under Actions column, and then select Delete.
Note:
You cannot delete the Address Component if there is only one Address Component in the configuration. - To replace the User Defined Data Field under Value, select Replace from More Menu and then select the new User Defined Data Field.
- To create new Version under the same Communication Address configuration, select Add Sibling from Actions on the top right corner. You need to provide the required information, Address Component and Active Date.
- To duplicate the existing Version under the same Communication Address configuration, select Duplicate to Create New Version from Actions on the top right corner. You need to provide the required information and Active Date of the new version. The Address Component for the new Version will be duplicated from the previous Version.
- Select Save to save the changes or Save & Exit to save the details and return to the landing page.
Deleting a Communication Address Version
You can delete the Communication Address version only if the Config ID, that is used to create the configuration, is open. If the Communication Address configuration has only one version and if you delete that version, then the corresponding Communication Address configuration also gets deleted.
Perform the following steps:
- Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
- From Menu, select Communication.
- Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Address. This redirects you to the Communication Address landing page.
- Follow either one of these options from the Communication Address landing page:
- From More Menu in Action column of the Communication Address configuration, select Edit.
- From Name column, select the required Communication Address configuration name to view its Summary page. Then from Summary page, select Edit.
This redirects you to the Update Communication Address page.
- From the left pane, navigate to the Version you want to delete.
- On Update Communication Address Version page, from Actions from the top right corner, select Delete.
- In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm.
Deleting a Communication Address Configuration
You can delete a Communication Address configuration if it is no longer required. Before deleting the configuration, you must ensure that the initial Config ID used for the configuration creation is open.
Perform the following steps:
- Access the Oracle Financial Services Cloud application.
- From Menu, select Communication.
- Under Communication, select Distribution and then select Communication Address. This redirects you to the Communication Address landing page.
- To delete the Communication Address configuration, follow either one of these options from the Communication Address landing page:
- From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Address configuration, select Delete. In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm.
- From More Menu in Action column of the respective Communication Address configuration, select Edit. This redirects you to the Update Communication Address page. From Actions on the top right corner, select Delete. In the dialog box, select Delete to confirm.
