Understanding Communication Address
Introduction
With Communication Address in Communication Cloud Services, you can define, assemble, and manage your customer contact information, such as email addresses, email display names, and telephone numbers. These addresses are essential for delivering messages, emails, and other marketing communications, and may include components like email addresses, email display names, and telephone numbers. By configuring and maintaining these contact details, Communication Address ensures providing the necessary recipients information required for efficient distribution of communications assets. When creating emails or messages in Communication Email or Communication Message, you must associate the relevant Communication Address configuration to ensure successful delivery to the intended recipients.
The Communication Address configuration is associated to the Communication configuration through communication methods such as email and message distribution. The Communication Address configuration supplies the necessary address information, such as email address, email display names, and telephone number, required for communication. The Communication configuration, in turn, defines how these communication methods are processed, specifying the channels and procedures for distributing the communication, through email or SMS.
Functionality
- Multi-Type Address Support: The Communication Address configuration supports various address types, including email address (with both address and display name) phone number for SMS.
- User Defined Data Configuration: The system seamlessly integrates User Defined Data, enabling dynamic generation and retrieval of address information from data sources.
- Association with Communication configurations: The association of Communication Address to Communication configurations ensures that the correct address information is used when processing and distributing communications.
Your organization needs to send personalized communications to customers across multiple channels, such as email and SMS.
Let us see how Communication Cloud Service helps in this scenario:
- Communication Address Configuration- Create a Communication Address configuration where you need to define contact details of the customers, such as email address, telephone number, and so on.
- Communication Email and Communication Message Configuration- Configure the Communication Email and Communication Message to design and assemble the content of the email and message. In both the configurations, you need to associate appropriate Communication Address configuration.
- Communication Distribution Email and Communication Distribution Message- Configure Communication Distribution Email and Communication Distribution Message to orchestrate and control the delivery of your emails and messages to customers by specifying the supplier services.
- Communication Configuration – Create a Communication configuration where you need to define the sequence of process execution in the Table configuration. The sequence must be assembled and create Email and Message using Communication Email and Communication Message, and then distribute.
Execution Flow
When your organization raise a request, the Communication configuration orchestrates the process by executing the relevant communication method, such as a Communication Email or Message. The system then utilizes the associated Communication Address configuration to retrieve the necessary contact information—such as the customer’s email address or phone number. Personalized message content is generated, drawing on data from Packages and User Defined Data. Finally, the communication is distributed to the intended recipients through the appropriate channel, ensuring each message is accurately delivered and tailored to the customer's contact preferences.
Configuration Movement
Configuring a Communication Address follows the configuration movement process; that is, if you configure a Communication Address in one tenancy (non-production), you can move the configuration to different tenancies (pre-production and production) sequentially.
