Understanding Communication Distribution Queue

Introduction

The Communication Distribution Queue in Communication Cloud Service serves as a routing mechanism between Communication and Communication Queue. It receives the assembled document reference and queue configuration details, determined by Communication, and forwards them to the Communication Queue. The Communication Queue then interacts with Communication Storage to retrieve the required metadata. Using this information and the Communication Queue configuration, the Communication Storage is mapped to an instance of Communication Queue required for further processing.

Functionalities

The functionalities provided by Communication Distribution Queue configuration include:
  • Routing Mechanism acts as an intelligent routing layer, directing document identifiers and configuration details from the communication initiation process to the correct processing queues.
  • Queue Handling bridges the gap between document assembly (in storage) and final distribution by relaying the necessary identifiers and instructions to the Communication Queue for further processing.
Execution Flow

When your organization submits a request, Communication receives the request and calls Communication Storage to generate the communication. Once the communication is generated, Communication shares the communication and metadata to Communication Distribution Queue. Communication Distribution Queue then further sends the communication and metadata to Communication Queue to process and create concatenated PDF.

Configuration Movement

Configuring a Communication Distribution Queue follows the configuration movement process; that is, if you configure a Communication Distribution Queue in one tenancy (non-production), you can move the configuration to different tenancies (pre-production and production) sequentially.
