4.2.2.1 Details on Planning by Product Hierarchy

Unlike OFSAA ALM which is designed to forecast new business volumes and pricing margins by Product and by Currency, BSP is specifically designed to forecast new business volumes and pricing margins by Product, by Planning Center (or Org Unit), and by Currency. So, when you use Planning by Product Hierarchy in BSP, you are forecasting more like ALM without regard to Planning Centers.

It’s important to understand that when you plan by Product Hierarchy, your forecast assumptions are copied to each Planning Center that has current position data within your Forecast Set. Your Product Hierarchy planning assumptions will override any planning assumptions that have already been stored at the Planning Center/Product/Currency-level. For this reason, the only New Business Method that BSP currently supports is the Growth method.
