Modifying Attribute Properties

Select an attribute and click Properties in the Edit menu The Attribute Properties dialog box displays.

Attribute Properties Dialog Box

The following components allow you to modify the attribute properties:

  • ID: Displays the system-generated value –1 until you save the attribute.
  • Name: Displays the system-generated name.
  • Raw Type: Select the base type of the attribute (the default is String).
  • DataSet Key: Select this check box if the attribute uniquely identifies each element. Click Ok to return to the Dataset Editor dialog box with your changes.

After saving the derived attribute, the ID changes to a system-generated number. A subsequent display of this dialog box displays the system-assigned number.

To modify attribute properties, follow these steps:

  1. Select an attribute from the Attributes area.
  2. From the Edit menu, select Properties, or double-click the selected attribute.

    The [Attribute] Properties dialog box displays.

  3. Select the DataSet Key check box if the attribute uniquely identifies each element.p

    This enables the DataSet Contents.

  4. Enter a name for the dataset element in the DataSet Contents.
  5. Click OK.

    The DataSet Editor dialog box displays the updated property values reflected in the attribute listing.
