5 Data Services

This section describes how data is ingested, processed, and exported within the Data Foundation Cloud Service (DFCS). The process is built on a logical abstraction called the Data Catalog, which is exposed through Application Data Interfaces (ADIs). Users can define External Data Descriptors (EDDs) via this interface, allowing EDDs to be seamlessly mapped to ADIs and enabling the creation of connectors for efficient data services.

Internally, data is processed using process connectors to support reporting and dashboard generation. An additional component, Application Data Service, is used to share data with downstream applications and recipes.

The Data Extract module manages the export of data from DFCS to the Object Store. This capability supports data sharing with downstream applications as well as external reporting systems.
