Identify Condiments and Condiment Prefixes

Condiments are menu items that are linked to a parent menu item and are used to provide preparation instructions such as:
  • Rare or well done for steak temperatures.

  • Which dressing to use for a salad.

  • Onions, tomatoes, or avocado for sandwiches.

Condiment prefixes are special menu items that describe Add, No, Substitute, Plain, or a Description.

Within Simphony, the words modifier and condiment are used interchangeably. For more information, see the Oracle MICROS Simphony Configuration Guide for your Simphony release.

The getGuestChecks API includes two attributes that can be used to identify condiments, condiment prefixes, as well as default condiments and manually added condiments.

Note:

In the following examples, only the relevant attributes to illustrate and explain each scenario are listed. The example returns are for illustration purposes for this specific use case and do not take into account other attributes nor the default inclusion definition of each attribute.
