Viewing Android POS Client Logs on the CAPS Machine

When the Transfer Logs feature is enabled on an Android device using the Property Management Console (PMC) in POS Operations, the Oracle Simphony Support team can access the transferred Android POS client logs by connecting to a CAPS machine. This functionality allows log files to be retained on the CAPS machine for a longer time period than they may be available on the Android device due to limited storage. The Support team can easily access and view these logs on CAPS to troubleshoot Android device issues.

The Android log files are transferred to CAPS in .zip format.

To view logs that were transferred from an Android device, navigate to the POSClientLogs directory on the CAPS machine:
  • Windows CAPS: [Drive Letter]:\Micros\Simphony\WebServer\wwwroot\EGateway\WinGatewayLog\POSClientLogs

  • CAPS on IIS: [Drive Letter]:\Micros\Simphony\IISCAPSServiceHost\EGateway\POSClientLogs

  • Linux: /opt/oracle/simphony/webserver/wwwroot/Egateway/POSClientLogs

The zipped Android log files have the workstation name, UTC time stamp, and local time stamp in the file name.
