Network Interface Card (NIC)

A NIC is a computer networking component used to connect a device to a network. It may be integrated into a computer’s motherboard, installed as a plug-and-play expansion card, or provided as a USB pluggable device that can be added to a computer.

Most Oracle MICROS hardware used with Simphony is equipped with a NIC that supports 10/100/1G Ethernet ports.

The following Oracle MICROS devices have on-board NIC cards:
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) workstations
  • Kitchen Display System (KDS)
  • Receipt printers
  • Kitchen order printers
  • Kiosks

The following figures show ports on the back of Oracle MICROS workstations. Consider the network card's configuration settings and maximum speed.
