WHODrug Global dictionary updates

Summary

Changes to the WHODrug Global files from the March 2022 version onwards (Enhancement 33657654)

Description

Starting with March 2022, the WHODrug Global files underwent 3 changes:

  • Substance Length field expansion
  • Country codes and names updates
  • Casing standardization in the WHODrug Global C3 format

Oracle Argus has been enhanced to successfully import the WHODrug files.

Substance Length field expansion

The Substance Name field in WHODrug Global has been extended, that is:

  • In the B3 format (BNA.csv/txt), the Substance Name field has been extended from 45 to 250 characters.
  • In the C3 format (SUN.csv/txt), the Substance Name field has been extended from 110 to 250 characters.

Country codes and names updates

Country codes and names have been updated according to the ISO 3166-1 standards.

Casing standardization in the WHODrug Global C3 format

UMC unifies the drug names casing in C3 format. This modification effectively standardizes the appearance of drug names bearing the same drug code (all drug names with the same drug code have the same casing).

Note:

There is no impact to the Case Form as the Substance Name already supports 250 characters. Argus Insight and Argus Mart tables and views have been updated to support the Substance Name length to 250 characters.
