Add a topic template action

When you create a topic template and save it, you can then edit it and add template actions.

To add an action to the topic template as you create it: After you have entered the general information for the topic template, click Save & Edit to open the Topic Template Action page.
  1. In the left navigation pane, click the Settings icon (Settings icon).
  2. In the Configure System section, click Manage Topic Workflow Configurations. Start with Step 6, below.
  3. Click the configuration's Row Action menu (Row Action menu icon), and then click Edit.
  4. On the Edit Topic Workflow Configuration page, click the Topic Templates card.
  5. Click the topic template's Row Action menu (Row Action menu icon), and then click Edit.
  6. On the Topic Template page in the Template Actions section, click the Add Template Action link.
  7. On the Add Topic Template Action page, from the Action type drop-down list, choose an action type. This is a required field. When you select an action type, the action type's predefined values are displayed for the template action.
    • If you select the Generic action type, the Override defaults check box is selected and disabled.
    • If you select an action type other than Generic, then the Override defaults check box is deselected. All fields other than Action type and Assigned to are disabled. This means values for the field are always displayed from the action type. If the action type changes, the template action automatically updates. When you select Override defaults, the template action fields display in their configured state of visible or editable.
    • You can change the value in the Assigned to field without overriding the defaults.
  8. Enter values for the action Name and Description.
  9. Use the Activate on topic states field to schedule when an action will be activated (move from the Planned to the Initial state). In the Activate on topic states field, select:
    • All to create actions in the initial state by default.
    • Select states to specify the topic state or states that will activate the action; for example, move the action from the Planned to the Initial state. To create the action in the Planned state, do not choose the Initial topic state.
  10. Enter values for any other fields to be included in the template action.
  11. Click Save.
