Combine and Uncombine Patient or Encounters (88423)

Scenario 1: Person Combine

Prerequisites:

  1. Create Patients A and B.
  2. Ensure that Patients A and B represent the same test patient.
  3. Ensure that Patients A and B have related records such as contact information, allergies, encounters, problems, vitals, histories, notes, orders, or messages.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine (HNACombine.exe) and combine Patient A into Patient B.
  2. Search for Patient A in a Millennium Platform tool. Verify that Patient A no longer exists.
  3. In Oracle Health EHR, open the chart for Patient B. Verify that the combined data from Prerequisite 3 is available.
  4. Open PowerChart (PowerChart.exe) and add data for Patient B.
  5. Open Oracle Health EHR and verify that the changes from Step 4 are displayed.
  6. Make additional changes to data for Patient B.
  7. Open PowerChart and verify that the changes from Step 6 are displayed.

Scenario 2: Person Uncombine

Prerequisites:

  1. In Oracle Health EHR, open Patient B from Scenario 1.
  2. Add new data such as a new allergy or new history item.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and uncombine Patients A and B. Verify that Patients A and B are now separate patients in the system and that encounters have separated correctly.
  2. In Oracle Health EHR, open the chart for Patient A. Verify that Patient A’s data is correct.
  3. In PowerChart (PowerChart.exe), add new encounter data for both Patients A and B.
  4. Open Oracle Health EHR, and verify that the changes from Step 3 are reflected accurately in the charts for Patients A and B.
  5. In Oracle Health EHR, add new encounter data for both Patients A and B.
  6. Open PowerChart and verify that the changes from Step 5 are reflected accurately in the charts for Patients A and B.

Scenario 3: Encounter Combine

Prerequisites:

  1. Open Patient A from Scenario 1.
  2. Create Encounters C and D for Patient C.
  3. Ensure that Encounters C and D include data such as orders, notes, problems, results, and so on.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and combine Encounters C and D into Encounter D.
  2. In Oracle Health EHR, verify that Encounter C no longer exists and that Encounter D contains the combined data from both encounters.

Scenario 4: Encounter Uncombine

Prerequisites:

Open Encounter D and add new data (such as orders, notes, results, and so on) to the encounter.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and uncombine Encounter D so that Encounters C and D exist again as separate encounters.
  2. Open Oracle Health EHR. Verify that the statuses of Encounters C and D are as expected.
  3. Verify that the new data added in the Prerequisites is displayed in the correct Encounter.

Scenario 5: Encounter Move

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and move Encounter C to Patient B.
  2. Open Oracle Health EHR. Verify that all data related to Encounter C is correctly associated with Patient B and not Patient A.

Scenario 6: Chain Combine Patients

Prerequisites:

  1. Identify or create Patients A, B, and C.
  2. Ensure that each patient has unique data.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and combine Patients A and B. Verify that Patient A is inactive and Patient B is active.
  2. Verify that the data for Patient A is now associated with Patient B.
  3. Combine Patients B and C. Verify that Patient B is inactive and Patient C is active.
  4. Verify that the data for Patient A is now associated with Patient C.
  5. Open Oracle Health EHR. Verify that you can only search for and open Patient C.
  6. In PowerChart (PowerChart.exe), add new encounter data for Patient C.
  7. Open Oracle Health EHR, and verify that the changes from Step 6 are reflected accurately in the charts for Patients C.
  8. In Oracle Health EHR, add new encounter data for Patient C.
  9. Open PowerChart and verify that the changes from Step 8 are reflected accurately in the chart for Patient C.

Scenario 7: Chain Combine Encounters

Prerequisites:

  1. Identify or create Patient D.
  2. For Patient D, crate Encounters F, G, and H.
  3. Ensure that each encounter has unique data.

Testing Options:

  1. Open Combine and combine Encounters F and G. Verify that Encounter F is inactive and Encounter G is active.
  2. Verify that the data for Encounter F is now associated with Encounter G.
  3. Combine Encounters G and H. Verify that Encounter G is inactive and Encounter H is active.
  4. Verify that the data for Encounter F is now associated with Encounter H.
  5. Open Oracle Health EHR. Verify that you can only search for and open Encounter H.
  6. In PowerChart (PowerChart.exe), add new data for Encounter H.
  7. Open Oracle Health EHR, and verify that the changes from Step 6 are reflected accurately in Encounter H.
