When you create a new message or response, you can attach a clinical document architecture (CDA).

When the MSG_TOCSUMMARY_TEMP preference is set, you can use the Add Attachments button to add CDAs to your messages.

  1. Ensure that the MSG_TOCSUMMARY_TEMP preference is set.
  2. Create a new message or response.
  3. Select Add Attachments.
  4. Select Generate TOC.
  5. Select the appropriate encounter.
  6. Select Generate. Verify that the attachment is added successfully.
  7. Select Remove Attachment. Verify that the attachment is removed successfully.

Implementation Impact:Low

Ensure that the MSG_TOCSUMMARY_TEMP preference is set.

Enhancements EHRM-41872 and EHRM-41465:

Patient Match

Component: Inbox

When you receive a secure message, prescription request, prescription change request, or prescription renewal request from an external source, the message must be matched to a patient before you can complete actions other than view or delete the message.

UI Impact: Workflow (Implemented)

When secure messaging is configured, you can match external secure messages to a patient. You can match external prescription requests, prescription change requests, and prescription renewal requests to a patient.

  1. Ensure that all configuration steps in Understand Secure Messaging in Message Center are completed.
  2. From the items list, open an external message, prescription request, prescription change request, or prescription renewal request that has not been matched to a patient. Verify that you can view and delete the message but cannot complete other actions until the message is matched to a patient.
  3. Complete one of the following steps to select a patient and encounter:
    • Select a patient and encounter from the list of suggested matches.
    • Select Search Patient, search for and select the patient, select the location, then select the encounter.
  4. Select Match to This Patient. Verify that the message is matched to the patient, the patient's relevant chart information is displayed, and you can complete additional actions for the message.

Enhancement EHRM-41471:

Send Secure External Messages

Component: Inbox

You can send messages to external recipients with direct secure email addresses unassociated with public email services.

When secure messaging is configured, you can send messages to external recipients with direct secure email addresses.
  1. Ensure that all configuration steps in Understand Secure Messaging in Message Center are completed.
  2. Create a new message or response.
  3. In the To box, enter an email address associated with a public email service, such as Yahoo.
  4. Select Send. Verify that you cannot send the message.
  5. In the To box, enter an external secure email address that is not associated with a public email service.
  6. Select Send. Verify that the message is sent successfully.

Implementation Impact: Low

Enhancement EHRM-41132:

CDA Saved to Patient Chart

Component: Inbox

When a message from an internal recipient includes a CDA attachment, the attachment is automatically saved to the patient's chart. When a secure message from an external recipient includes a CDA attachment, the attachment is automatically saved to the patient's chart after the messages is matched to a patient.

UI Impact: Visual Only

Identify a message with a CDA attachment from an internal recipient or an external recipient with the patient match workflow completed. Verify that the CDA is available in the patient's chart.

Team Inboxes

Component: Inbox

You can view inboxes for teams that you are a member of. You can also assign or unassign yourself items in the team inboxes.

UI Impact: Workflow (Implemented)

When pools are configured, clinician who are members of a team can view the team inbox and assign or unassign themselves items.

  1. Ensure that the steps in the Configuring Pools section of All About Message Center Pools are completed.
  2. From the My Inbox list, select one of the teams that you are a member of. Verify that your teams are displayed in the My Inbox list.
  3. Find the item on the items list and select Assign to Me. Verify that the item is now displayed as assigned to you.
  4. For the same item, select Unassign. Verify that the item is now unassigned.

Implementation Impact: Low

Enhancement EHRM-39712:

Prescription Change Requests

Component: Inbox

You can manage prescription change requests from the Prescriptions category of your inbox.

You can view and perform actions for prescription change requests.

Select a prescription change request from the Prescriptions category. Verify that you can complete the following actions:
  • Select Sign to approve the request.
  • Select an alternative.
  • Select Discard to deny the request.
  • Select a denial reason.

Encounter Locations

When you select a location to associate with a new communication encounter, only locations that you have access to and the patient has had an appointment at in the past 3 years are displayed.

Enhancement EHRM-61157:

Send, Send and Complete, or Send and Delete

Component: Inbox

When you send a response, you can select one of the following buttons:
  • Send: The message stays in the associated category of your inbox.
  • Send and Delete: The message is displayed in your inbox only when filtered by the Deleted status.
  • Send and Complete Conversation: Members can no longer reply and the message is displayed in your inbox only when filtered by the Deleted status.

UI Impact: Workflow (Automatic)

You can select Send, Send and Delete, or Send and Complete Conversation to determine where the response message is displayed in your inbox and whether the conversation can continue.

  1. Open an existing message, enter a response, and select Send. Verify that the message is sent and the message is still displayed in the associated category of your inbox.
  2. Open an existing message, enter a response, and select Send and Delete. Verify that the message is sent and the message is displayed in your inbox only when the Deleted status filter is applied. Verify that your next message is displayed or the items list is displayed if the message was the last one in the category.
  3. Open an existing message, enter a response, and select Send and Complete Conversation. Verify that the message is sent, conversation members can no longer reply, and the message is displayed in your inbox only when the Deleted status filter is applied. Verify that your next message is displayed or the items list is displayed if the message was the last one in the category.

When you create a new message or response, you can attach files from your device.

When you create a new message or response, you can attach up to 50 MB of files in the following format from your device:

  • .JPEG
  • .PNG
  • .BMP
  • .GIF
  • .TIFF
  • .PDF

  1. Create a new message or response.
  2. Select Add Attachments.
  3. Select Upload From Device.
  4. Select your file. Verify that the attachment is added successfully if it is in one of the following formats and the 50 MB maximum is not reached:
    • .JPG
    • .JPEG
    • .PNG
    • .BMP
    • .GIF
    • .TIFF
    • .PDF
  5. Select Remove Attachment. Verify that the attachment is removed successfully.

When a sent or received message includes an attachment, you can select the file to open it in an attachment viewer.

When you select attachments, they are displayed in an attachment viewer.

Correction EHRM-51615:

Completed Messages in Oracle Health EHR Reflected in Message Center

Component: Inbox

If you mark a conversation as Completed after sending a message from the Inbox in Oracle Health EHR, the conversation is displayed under the Completed filter for message recipients in Oracle Health EHR and is closed in Message Center.

From Oracle Health EHR, send a message and complete the conversation. Locate the message in Message Center (MessageCenter.exe) and verify that the message is closed.

Back Button Returns to Inbox

When you open the patient's chart from the Inbox by selecting a link from the patient summary, you can return to the Inbox successfully using the Back button.

If you enter the at symbol (@) in the message body and do not tag a person, the dialog box to select a person closes.
