Match an External Message or Prescription Request to a Patient

You can match an external message, prescription request, prescription change request, or prescription renewal request to a patient.

Note:

An external prescription renewal request is automatically matched to a patient if a known order ID and patient date of birth are available. You must manually match the request to a patient if either is unavailable.
To match an external message or prescription request to a patient:
  1. From the items list, open an external item that has not been matched to a patient.

    Note:

    You can view and delete the item but cannot complete other actions until the item is matched to a patient.
  2. Complete one of the following steps to select a patient and encounter:
    • Select a patient and encounter from the list of suggested matches.
    • Select Search Patient, search for and select the patient, select the location, then select the encounter.
  3. Select Match to This Patient.
