People Movement Process: Validations

Once a profile is selected from the Search tab, or a barcode is scanned or a card is tapped on the Gangway/Tender tab, the system validates the passenger’s profile through the people movement process and shows either a success or failure message, depending on the type of validation.

Workflow

  • If the profile movement contains error messages, the people movement process will be aborted, and these messages will be showed in the error section of the card view. If the error messages exceed three lines, a "View More" link is showed. Selecting this link will open a drawer showing the full list of errors.
  • If the profile movement contains override messages, the system will show confirmation messages one by one. If the user cancels any of the messages, the people movement process will be aborted and a failure card view will be shown. If all confirmation messages are confirmed, the system will proceed to the next validation.
  • If the profile is for a minor, the system will show the ‘Allow Minor Departure’ dialog. The user must select one guardian before the system continues to the next validation.
  • If the profile has messages, the system will show the “Messages” dialog. If any acknowledgement messages are required, the user must acknowledge all of them before the system continues to the next validation.
  • If the profile has confiscated items, the system will show the ‘Return temporary confiscated items / Collect confiscated items’ dialog at the end, showing any items to be collected or returned. If there are no items to collect or return, the user can proceed by clicking the Next button.
  • Once the people movement process is successfully completed, the system will show a success card view and, if applicable, an overnight tour message banner.
The following are the validations:
  • Record not found : If the searched profile’s record not found. An error message “We couldn’t proceed with this people’s movement” will show at the card view.

  • Invalid Reservation: If the searched profile’s record found and the profile’s is not currently present i.e. Cancelled, No Show, or Ashore and Checked out then the error message “Invalid reservation. <full name> status is <reservation status>” will show at the card view.

  • Wrong direction: The system shows a Wrong Direction error message when a guest, resident, visitor, or crew member attempts to go through a gateway or tender boat in an unauthorized direction.
    • Gangway

The Wrong Direction error shows if someone tries to pass through the gangway in the incorrect direction (e.g., entering through an exit-only gateway or exiting through an entry-only gateway).

When Traffic Direction is Inwards (entry to ship):

      • The system allows boarding only. If someone tries to exit to shore, a wrong direction message is shown.
      • The default message is: “Please inform <Profile’s name> to use the inward direction gateway.” This default message can be customized in the OHC Administration > Administration > System Setup > Labels Setup > GNG008.

When Traffic Direction is Outwards (exit to shore):

      • The system allows exit to shore only. If someone tries to enter the ship, a wrong direction message is shown.
      • The default message is: “Please inform <Profile’s name> to use the outward direction gateway.” This default message can be customized in theOHC Administration > Administration > System Setup > Labels Setup > GNG0087.

When Traffic Direction is both ways:

      • The gateway allows both entry and exit. Wrong direction validation is not used.
    • Tender

For tender boats, the wrong direction message is shown when a person not assigned to a tender boat tries to get off the tender boat.

When Traffic Direction is Inwards (return to ship):

      • Only those who are recorded as being on the tender may get off. If a security officer selects someone not on the list, the error message “<full name> is not in this tender boat <Tender boat name>” is shown.

When Traffic Direction is Outwards (depart to shore):

      • Same validation as above; only listed persons may disembark the tender boat.
