About Master and Sub Blocks

Prerequisites for Master and Sub Blocks

Master Blocks and Sub Blocks have a variety of uses.
  • You can split sleeping rooms of one group across different properties within a hub using a master and sub block booking structure.
  • You could use sub blocks when a room type has different rate amounts for different quantities of rooms (Example: 10 King rooms at the staff rate of $99.00 and 100 king rooms at convention rate of $200.00).
  • This icon depicts a master block Indicates a master block.

  • This icon depicts a sub block Indicates a sub block.

When the Synchronize Master Sub Blocks OPERA Control is active the Synchronize checSk box is selected by default when creating a Master Block.

When Synchronize is selected, the following sub block details are updated automatically when a change is made to the master block details.
You cannot modify the following details for sub blocks when Synchronize is selected.
  • Overview section

  • Block Details

  • Block Status

When the Synchronize check box is not selected on the master block, the check box is disabled on the sub blocks, and the master and sub blocks are managed independently. You must make changes individually to the appropriate master and/or sub blocks.

Note:

Room Grid (allocation) and Catering Events cannot be associated to a Master Block.
