About Turn-away

Prerequisites for Reservation Turnaways

The Turn-away feature enables you to record statistical information related to business that is turned-away. Turn-away business is sometimes classified as either regrets (for example, when the guest declines to place a reservation because of price, property features, location of the property, and so on) or as denials (for example, when the property cannot accept the reservation because inventory is sold out, or the desired rate or room type is not available). For example, a guest calls and wants to make a reservation at the corporate rate for July 17. If a review of the Look to Book Sales screen shows that the corporate rate is not available on that date for the property, you may record a turn-away if the guest does not accept an alternate rate room type or date.

When the Turnaway Functionality OPERA Control is active, the Turn-away screen automatically appears when you search for a room type or rate on the Look To Book Sales Screen and select Exit Booking without confirming a reservation. On the Turn-away screen, you can select the reason that the guest did not proceed with a reservation, search and select a specific guest profile, and more.

Only users with the Override Turn-away Statistic Collection task assigned to their roles are able to override and skip the entry of a turn-away.

Turn-away statistics are reported as daily total on the Managers Report and you can create and customize statistical reports in Reporting and Analytics.
