About Best Available Rates

Prerequisites: Best Available Rates (BAR)

Best available rates is a pricing model, commonly used to provide the lowest possible rate for a room type on a given date. OPERA Cloud offers three types of Best Available Rate. The Best Available Rate Type OPERA Control determines the Best Available Rate handling for your property.

• Best Available Rates by Day — (Not supported by GDS or OWS.) You can schedule up to 25 rate codes per day and room type. For more information, see Configuring Best Available Rate Schedules. Look to Book returns four best available rate codes for the stay date, by room type.

  Note:

  If this setting is selected, you cannot activate the Dynamic Best Available Rates (DBAR) OPERA Control.

• Best Available Rates by LOS — This type of Best Available Rate allows you to schedule one rate code per length of stay per day. For more information, see Configuring Best Available Rate Schedules. Look to Book returns one rate code for the stay date and length of stay.

  If this setting is selected, you cannot activate the Dynamic Best Available Rate (DBAR) OPERA Control.

• Best BAR by Day ((BBAR) — (Supported by GDS and OWS). You can set up multiple Best Best Available Rate by Day rate codes via selection of the Best Available Rate check box in the rate code type panel. Out of all Best Available Rates setup, only the best rate code (lowest price) is displayed in Look to Book Sales screen. You can also setup base rate codes with pricing derived from BBAR

  Note:

  When booking reservations in OPERA Cloud using Best Best Available Rate (Best BAR) or a dependent rate (derived from BBAR), OPERA Cloud will record the BAR rate code and the amount of the first night for tracking purposes.
