Channel Configuration

Third parties are used to sell inventory and include travel agents on a global distribution system (GDS) and internet hotel booking portals on an alternate distribution system (ADS). You must configure these channels and create distribution templates, template types, and total pricing elements.

  • Channel Setup: This enables the hotel and channel to process transactions. Setup includes creating a code and description of the channel. You can identify the channel type, rates, room types, rate categories, rate levels, sub-channels, and error codes associated with the channel.

  • Distribution Templates: These publish a rate to all channels configured in the rate code template. You can create templates at the chain or property level.

  • Template Type: Use this to create a template type code and template description, then use the template type code when configuring Distribution Templates.

  • Total Pricing Elements: These associate taxes or service fees with transaction codes. Total Pricing Elements provide channels and other reservation sources with a more detailed breakdown of charges.
