Configuring Reservation Types

Note:

When the OPERA Multiproperty Cross Reservation Cloud Service is active, reservation type configuration can be copied to other properties. For more information, see Copying Configuration Codes to Multiple Properties.

Adding a Reservation Type

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking, select Booking Rules and Schedules, and then select Reservation Types.

  2. Click New and complete the following fields:

    1. Reservation Type. Enter a code for the reservation type. Make this code informative for the user. For example, if the reservation type is to be “Guaranteed until 6:00 pm," you might enter ‘6PM.’ When editing an existing reservation type, you cannot change this code.

    2. Description. Enter a description for the reservation type (for example, "Guaranteed until 6:00 pm").

    3. Manage Translation: Click link to configure localized descriptions. For more information, see Configuring Localized Code Descriptions. (Available when the Multi-language OPERA Control is active.).

    4. Sequence. Enter a number that controls the position of this code in listings. Codes without a sequence number assigned are listed in alphabetical order following codes with a sequence assigned.

    5. Address. (Required) Select to indicate an address is required for reservations made using this reservation type.

    6. Deposit. (Required) Select if a deposit is required when making a reservation for this reservation type. This check box is provided for informational purposes only. Deposit requirements must be set by deposit rule schedules.

    7. Arrival Time. (Required) Select to indicate a mandatory arrival time is required for reservations made using this reservation type.

    8. Deduct Inventory. Select to indicate the reservation type will deduct a room from the inventory count when a reservation is made using this reservation type. If deselected, the reservation type is non-deduct, meaning a room will not be deducted from the inventory count.

    9. Phone Number. (Required) Select to specify a phone number is required for reservations made using this reservation type.

    10. Credit Card. (Required) Select to specify a credit card is required for reservations made using this reservation type.

  3. Click Save.

Editing a Reservation Type

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking, select Booking Rules and Schedules, and then select Reservation Types.

  2. Select or confirm the Property, enter optional search criteria, and click Search.

  3. From search results, click the row level vertical ellipsis for the reservation type and select Edit.

  4. Make the desired changes.

    Note:

    Select Inactive to mark the code as inactive. Inactive reservation types are excluded from reservation type lists of values.
  5. Click Save.

Deleting a Reservation Type

  1. From the Administration menu, select Booking, select Booking Rules and Schedules, and then select Reservation Types.

  2. Select or confirm the Property, enter optional search criteria, and click Search.

  3. From search results, click the row level vertical ellipsis for the reservation type and select Delete.

  4. Click Delete to confirm.
