Redeeming Loyalty Awards for Upgrade

With an Oracle Hospitality OPERA Cloud Service, Loyalty subscription or when OPERA Cloud is with OPERA Customer Loyalty Tracking Cloud Service or another loyalty solution, member award points can be redeemed for a room type upgrade; offered based on specific validity dates, the member's tier or level, and other factors.

For room type upgrade awards, a Search available member upgrade awards link appears in reservation Book Now when an upgrade award is available for the dates and the room type booked. The Search available member upgrade awards link also appears in reservation presentation for future or arrival reservations based on the Member Upgrade Award Prompt All Dates OPERA Control.

Note:

The Search available member upgrade awards link does not display during reservation check in.

The Search available member upgrade awards link appears only for Members of the Primary Loyalty Program.

Loyalty badge.

Once redeemed, the Points Available value in profile membership is updated to show the deduction in points (or increase based on updates/cancellations). An Award record is also created for each night on the profile membership panel. For more information, see Managing Profile Membership (Loyalty Cloud Service).

Booking a Room Type Upgrade Award Redemption Reservation

Note:

The upgrade offer displayed is based on the available points balance, member level / tier, validity dates and other criteria. If the member doesn't have sufficient points no upgrade award link will be displayed. 
  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen.

  2. Enter the caller and contact information (Displayed when the Caller Information OPERA Control is active).

  3. Click New Reservation.

  4. In the search panel

    1. Enter the reservation stay details:

    2. Name: Enter and search for the loyalty member profile.

      1. Select the profile from the search result and click Select.

      2. The Member Number field is populated.

  5. Click Search.

  6. Click the rate and room type cell to select for the reservation, then click Select.

  7. The Book Now page is displayed to enter the reservation details.

  8. Click the Search available member upgrade awards link at the top of the page.

    Note:

    The upgrade offer displayed is based on the available points balance, member level / tier, validity dates and other criteria. If the member doesn't have sufficient points no upgrade award link will be displayed. 
    1. The Member Award Upgrade page displays the details of the upgrade available.

    2. Click Select to confirm and proceed with the upgrade.

      Note:

      The room type is updated and Room Type to Charge (RTC) retains the original room type.
  9. Complete the entry of the reservation details; For more information, see Booking a Reservation.

  10. Click Book Now.

Adding an Upgrade Award to an Existing Reservation

To redeem an upgrade, the available points balance must be sufficient to cover all nights and the room type to upgrade to must be available for the reservation dates.

Note:

The upgrade offer is based on the available points balance, member level/tier, validity dates, and other criteria. If the member does not have sufficient points, no awards appear.
  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Manage Reservations.

  2. Enter search criteria and click Search.

  3. Select the reservation in the search results, click the I Want To . . . and select Reservation, or click the confirmation number in the reservation presentation.

  4. Click the Search available member upgrade awards link at the top of the page.

    1. The Member Award Upgrade page displays the details of the upgrades available.

    2. Select the upgrade you would like to apply.

    3. Click Select to confirm and proceed with the upgrade.

Note:

The room type is updated and Room Type to Charge (RTC) retains the original room type.

Updating a Room Type Upgrade Award Redemption Reservation

When increasing the length of stay additional points are deducted and an additional award will show for each additional night on the profile membership Award List panel.

When reducing the length of stay, the deducted points are credited less any cancellation penalties and the award appears as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel.

When changing the room type, the deducted points are credited less any cancellation penalties and the award appears as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel.

  1. From the OPERA Cloud menu, select Bookings, select Reservations, and then select Look To Book Sales Screen.

  2. Enter search criteria, click Search.

  3. Select the reservation in the search result, then click I Want to . . ., Reservation, or click the confirmation number to open the Reservation Presentation page.

  4. Update the stay details as needed.

Cancelling a Room Type Upgrade Award Redemption Reservation

When cancelling an Award reservation the deducted points will be credited and the Award will show as cancelled on the profile membership Award List panel.
