Configuring Device Areas

Use Device Areas to define the locations where RFID key encoders and EMV PIN Entry Devices (PEDs) are located. Once configured you can assign a device area to each RFID key encoder or EMV PED. Then when processing payment or encoding a room key, you can use device area as a filter, making it much easier to find the devices assigned to that area.

Adding Device Areas

  1. From the Administration menu, select Interfaces, and then select Device Areas.

    Note:

When the Multi Property OPERA Control is active, new Device Areas are created by selecting the Template tab. Once created, you can copy locators to specific properties using the Copy action. Refer to Copying Configuration Codes to Multiple Properties for more information.

  2. Click New and complete the following fields:
    1. Property: Enter or search for and select a property.

    2. Code: Enter a code that briefly describes the device area (for example, FD for front desk, HL for hall, LBBY for lobby, PL for pool, CF for club floor, VIP for VIP lounge, and so on).

    3. Description: Enter a description of the device area (for example, Front Desk, Club Floor, and so on).

      1. Manage Translations: Click link to configure localized descriptions. For more information, see Configuring Localized Code Descriptions. (Available when the Multi-language OPERA Control is active).

    4. Sequence: Enter a number that controls the position of this code in listings. Codes without a sequence number assigned are listed in alphabetical order following codes with a sequence assigned.
