Configuring Channel Room Types

You can distribute room types to each booking channel.

Note:

Ensure you have the necessary Channel Management module tasks at the property level assigned in OPERA Cloud.

Searching Channel Room Types

With the help of search options, you can search for channel room mapping across multiple channels and properties. This option is available at both Property and Hub levels.

From the Administration menu, select Distribution, then select Channel Room Types.
HUB level: Select a Channel or Multiple Channels. All Channel Room Types are displayed for the selected channel.
Property level - Property is auto-selected.
Select a Property, Property Room Type or Channel Room Type to filter search results.

Adding Channel Room Types

From the Administration menu, select Distribution, then select Channel Room Types.
Click Add Channel Distribution and select following details:
1. Select Channel from the list and click Next.
2. Active: By default, the check box is selected when creating a new record. Deselect the check box to set the channel room type to Inactive.
3. Property Room Type: Select the Property Room Type configured in your Property Management System (PMS).
4. Channel Room Type: Enter the Channel Room Type to map against the selected Property Room Type. In case of external mapping channels, a drop-down list enabled with data from the channel enables you to select. For channels with code handling set to External mapping, you can select the room type code from the list of values that displays directly from the channel. For channels with code handling set to Conversion template, you can select the room types from the list of values configured for the channel in Channel Registry, or you can type in or create a new one. In other cases, you can type in your channel room type. If max room type length is configured for the channel, the room type length must be equal to the configured value without using lower case, special characters, or spaces. In case no max room type length is configured, you can enter up to twenty digits typed with upper case characters, special characters, or spaces. This field is required.
5. Start Date: Enter the booking start date for the room type mapping. By default, it is set to your system date. This field is required.
6. End Date: Enter the booking end date for the room type mapping.
7. Channel Room Name: Enter the Room Name for the mapped room. By default, the Property Room Type Name appears as soon as the Property Room Type is selected but can be overwritten. If the channel is an external mapping channel, by default, the Channel Room Name appears as soon as the Channel Room Type is selected and cannot be overwritten. In case the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears.
8. Channel Room Order: Enter the room order for the channel. By default, it shows the value from Room Content Level of room type configuration. In case the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears.
9. Channel Sell Sequence: Enter the sequence in which the channel room type will be displayed during shop. This is particularly useful in cases where multiple property room types are mapped to the same channel room type.
10. Additional Fields for GDS/Switch Channels:
  1. Channel GDS Room Description (Line1): Enter the Channel GDS Room Description Line 1. The default value is taken from content level for room type configuration. If the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears. It is limited to 45 characters.
  2. Channel GDS Room Description (Line 2): Enter the Channel GDS Room Description Line 2. The default value is taken from content level for room type configuration. If the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears. It is limited to 45 characters.
  3. Channel GDS Room Description (Line 3): Enter the Channel GDS Room Description Line 3. The default value is taken from content level for room type configuration. If the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears. It is limited to 45 characters.
11. Channel Sell Sequence: Enter the sell sequence of the room type.

  3. Channel GDS Room Description (Line 2): Enter the Channel GDS Room Description Line2. The default value is taken from content level for room type configuration. If the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears. It is limited to 45 characters.
  4. Channel GDS Room Description (Line 3): Enter the Channel GDS Room Description Line 3. The default value is taken from content level for room type configuration. If the default value is altered, an indicator below the field for Overridden value appears. It is limited to 45 characters.
12. Additional Fields only for non-room rate mapping enabled channels:
13. Rate Plans: Select one or multiple Rate Plans. This enables you to add or remove the rate plans for which you want to create the offer distribution.
14. Click Submit to create the record. ClickUpdate to save your edits on existing records.

Editing Channel Room Types

From the Administration menu, select Distribution, then select Channel Room Types.
Enter search criteria and click Search.
Select a channel room record in the search results and then click the Edit icon.
Update the details.
Click Save.

Deleting Channel Room Types

Note:

Delete is only available with the appropriate task.

From the Administration menu, select Distribution, then select Channel Room Types.
Enter search criteria and click Search.
Select a channel room record in the search results and then click the Delete icon.
Click Delete to confirm.

Copying Channel Room Types to Multiple Channels

You can copy a single record from hub and property locations to multiple channels by selecting Copy option to channels.

Note:

This option is not available for channels that use external lookup to map channel rooms to property room types.

From the Administration menu, select Distribution, then select Channel Room Types.
Enter search criteria and click Search.
Select a channel room record in the search results and then click Copy.
Select Copy To Channels.
1. Select Channel Type and click Continue.
2. Select one/multiple channels and click Continue.
3. Continue with the distribution attributes that are pre-selected based on the selected channel room type or modify values as applicable.
4. Select the options to copy the associated rate plans.
  1. Assign same channel rate codes as in source channel.
  2. Assign all available channel rate codes in target channel.
  3. Do not assign channel rate codes in target channel.
5. Click Copy.
