What is the purpose of different hierarchies (like CDF, PDF, PFT and BDF) for Dose Formulation? Do we have any guidelines to use these terms?

Each term is categorized into one or many concept classes by EDQM as follows:
  • PDF - Pharmaceutical Dose Form
  • CDF - Combined Pharmaceutical Dosage Form
  • BDF - Basic Dose Form
  • PFT - Patient Friendly Term
Each agency will determine the guideline to use these in case a term belongs to multiple concept classes. Factory data is provided to consider the priority in the order: PDF, CDF, BDF, PFT. Users can change this priority before loading new dictionary files.
