Loading dictionary data

Use this procedure to Load dictionary data into the database using the schema that you generated. The dictionary schema must exist before you can load data into it. For more information, see Generating the schema for the dictionary data.

  1. Select Start > Apps > Dictionary Loader.
    The Dictionary Loader dialog box appears.
  2. Select a connection and connect to the database.
    For more information, see Connecting to the database.
  3. In the Data Connections tree in the left pane, select the Dictionaries node for the active connection.
    Information about the Dictionaries for this connection appears in the top pane.
  4. In the Dictionaries pane, select the dictionary to load data into.
  5. Select Dictionary > Load.
    The Locate Files dialog box appears.
  6. Enter the following information:
    • Location—Browse to the folder that contains the file with the dictionary data to load.

      Select a directory and click Open. The full path to the files appears in the Location field.

    • Dictionary schema password—Password for this dictionary schema, which was created when the dictionary was created.
  7. Click OK.
    The dictionary data loads. Messages appear in the Output pane in the Dictionary Loader tool. When the load is complete, you can check the log file to verify the status of the load operation. The log file is in <Installation Folder>\DictionaryLoader\Setup\gather_stats_[schemaowner].log.
